Network
The MediaBox is in my workshop at the back of the garden so WiFi signal from the house was very poor. Luckily I have a conduit running underground from the house to the workshop that has the armoured cable for power and also an ethernet cable.
The ethernet cable in the workshop plugs into a TP-Link AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 Router 2.5G Port Dual-Band AX55 Pro. The router
is setup as an access point that matches the router in the house. The MediaBox is and XP PC are
connected via ethernet and when I’m in the workshop my MacBook and phone use the WiFi.
IP Addresses
I have given some devices on my local network fixed static IPs to be able to add firewall/config rules (e.g. in samba) to lock down the network a bit tighter.
